The Valley of Flowers National Park in Chamoli and Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand is located inside the Nanda Devi Biosphere. It is best known for its jaw dropping views of the mountain valleys filled with endemic alpine flowers and a large variety of rare wildflowers. It also has a variety of rare and endangered animals. Pin Parvati Pass trek, Himachal Pradesh:

The Pin Parvati pass is a high altitude mountain pass at a height of about 5,319 metres which connects the lush green Parvati valley in Kullu to the barren Pin valley in Spiti. The Pin Parvati pass trek is known to offer stunning views of the mountain valleys and forests along with the mountains in the skyline. The steep ascents and descents at a high altitude with the adverse climate conditions make the trek a difficult one, and can only be visited by experienced trekkers and mountaineers. One can ideally visit this trek during the monsoon months of July to September.

Markha Valley trek, Ladakh:

Duration: 6-9 days.

Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult.

The Markha river originates in the Zanskar ranges (a trans Himalayan range) at the junction of Langtang Chu and Nimaling Chu. The Markha Valley trek is one of the most visited treks in Ladakh, owing to its spectacular views of the mountain peaks, valleys and Tibetan monasteries. The trek also offers magnificent views of Mount Kang Yatse at the end of the Markha Valley. Another attraction of the trek is the contrasting lush green valleys among the barren mountains. Although quite a strenuous and tiring trek due to the long routes and harsh weather at high altitudes, the Markha Valley trek is one of the most famous treks in the Himalayas. An ideal monsoon trek, it is the most suitable to visit this trek during the months of June to October.

Parang La trek, Ladakh:

Duration: 8-11 days.

Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult.

Parang La is a high altitude mountain trail at an altitude of about 5,600 metres which links the Spiti valley in Himachal Pradesh to Changthag in Tibet. One of the most famous treks in the Himalayas, the Parang la trek is known for its unique and distinct features of the mountains. The trek will lead one through the vast meadows along the Tso Moriri lake, with the Tibetan monasteries on the lap of the mountains. The steep ascents at such a high altitude along with the harsh climate make the trek a quite challenging one. The monsoon months of June to September are the most suitable to visit the Parang La trek.

Other noteworthy monsoon treks include the Chopta Chandrashila trek in Uttarakhand, the Torna Fort trek and Sinhagad trek in Maharashtra, the Bhrigu Lake trek and Beas Kund trek in Himachal Pradesh etc. to name a few. Though monsoons impose new challenges for trekkers in the form of landslides and slippery terrains, yet these treks are one of the most visited treks in the country- owing to the jaw dropping views they offer.
